Wedding Venues with no areas for photographs

By South Wales wedding photographers – Kapow Photography Ltd

South Wales wedding photographers often find themselves shooting wedding photography away from the wedding venue. This is due to several reasons. The main reason is that the venue the bride has booked doesn’t have suitable grounds or areas for wedding photography to take place. In fact its a question that comes up fairly often with brides who have booked such venues….”where can we go for our wedding photos?”

We thought it best to write a blog post explaining how we get around the issue of the wedding venue with no suitable grounds. Fortunately in South Wales we are surrounded by magnificent coastline, mountains and parks that are just a stones throw from any of the wedding venues in South Wales. TheĀ South Wales Coastal path means easy access from just about anywhere.

For us as wedding photographers we must not forget that it is all new to the bride and groom, and what we take for granted and second nature when organising a wedding shoot does not come second nature to them. This is their first time.

As photographers we will have a plan in place and timings set for when we will go away from the venue to carry out such important photographs. Sometimes its not just the bride and groom that come but the ushers and bridesmaids aswell. Timing therefore is crucial in that the time we spend away from the rest of the wedding party is short and all photos are done swiftly. Ideal spots for photos therefore must be fairly close to the venue.

Traffic and weather may come into play when doing such a shoot. We are always concious that the bride and groom are comfortable en route as we cannot always rely on the wedding cars to still be around to carry them in style. This may seem like common sense, but its always handy for photographers to run through these different senarios in their head to see if a particular beauty spot would be pushing it a little..especially on such an important day. If its slightly too far away or we think the weather will change we will make alternative arrangements.

Below are some photos that we have taken as South Wales wedding photographers that have been taken at such locations away from the wedding venue.

Maria & Luke

Working as a Wedding photographer Cwmbran is one of our popular locations. With Dave living close by in Croesyceiliog it means that we don’t have to travel far to attend a wedding in this area. This was quite the opposite for our bride on this particular wedding day. Maria had travelled all the way from Russia to be married to Luke who originally comes from Cwmbran!

Luke and Maria met whilst working together in Russia. They decided to get married back in Wales in an old church and the splendour of a traditional Welsh Castle. It was amazing to be their photographer for this wedding. Not only a Russian bride but also bridesmaids and Russian Family members! Despite a language barrier in organising some of the photography, the day went absolutely perfectly. The weather, despite a forecast of rain also held off for us. There was even a fabulous sunset late evening which had spectacular views of the countryside from the castle walls.

So we wanted to share some of the magical moments from the wedding below. Hope you enjoy!
